My Son, The Blogger: An M.D. trades Medicine for Apple Rumors
By. Brain Stelter

Over the past eight years Arnold Kim has been steadily blogging on apple rumors Mac Rumors blog. Even though Mr. Kim was pursing his M.D. and after during his training, he continued blogging. Now, Dr. Kim, a kidney specialist, attracts more than 4.4 million people and 40 million views according to Quantcast, making it one of the most popular technology websites online now. He has even now given up his stethoscope to be a full time blogger.

Dr. Kim is one of the few of millions of bloggers whose wealth has been enabled by his blogging. He began his blogging when blogging was not that heard of, in 2000. Since he had received a Computer Science Degree from Columbia University, he had the knowledge to pursue this hobby. But the inspiration for the blog came from his desire to know what would Apple’s next move would be. That is how Mac Rumors began.

Dr. Kim is a wealthy guy, but he is not quite a million dollar blogger yet. Wall Street, last year declared that Dr. Kim’s site knew more about Apple than Apple’s actually management. They also pegged his site as the number two blog online. He now hopes to expand his blog, and bring in more advertisements, to one day take the number one spot.

The thought of going to school to become an actual MD, to finish, to start practicing, then to walk away to work full time on a blog, sounds farfetched. But, Dr. Kim has worked it out. I don’t know if I could completely leave the profession to work on a blog. He does have a good product and is something that lots of people are interested in. Apple has become a cult or religion to some people, and to know the latest before everyone else does, is a prophecy.
